National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test
NEET is mandatory for:
- MBBS Admission in any Medical College in India.
- An Indian student wishes to pursue an MBBS course abroad.
- In addition to MBBS, it applies to the following courses as well:
- BDS
- BAMS
- BUMS
- BHMS
- BSMS
- Nursing
Eligibility to Appear in NEET for MBBS Admission:
- Must be 17 years of age at the time of admission or will reach that age on or before December 31 of the admission year.
- There is no upper age limit.
- 10+2 or equivalent in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English with PCB
taken together percentage of:
- 50 % For Unreserved and General-EWS Candidates
- 40% For SC, ST, Other Backward Classes (NCL)
The Exam:
- NEET is usually held on the 1st Sunday of May every year.
- Pen & Paper-based Test.
- Total test duration: Three hours and 20 minutes.
- NEET comprises four Subjects:
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Botany
- Zoology
- Each subject consist of two sections. Section A consist of 35 Questions and Section B has 15
Questions.
- Out of 15 Questions in Section-B, candidates can choose to attempt any 10 Questions.
- So, the total number of questions to attempt is 45 in each subject, totaling 180 for all four subjects.
- Correct answer: Four marks
- Incorrect answer: Minus one mark (-1)
- Unanswered: No mark
- Question Paper in 13 languages:
