National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test


NEET is mandatory for:
  • MBBS Admission in any Medical College in India.
  • An Indian student wishes to pursue an MBBS course abroad.
  • In addition to MBBS, it applies to the following courses as well:
    • BDS
    • BAMS
    • BUMS
    • BHMS
    • BSMS
    • Nursing
Eligibility to Appear in NEET for MBBS Admission:
  • Must be 17 years of age at the time of admission or will reach that age on or before December 31 of the admission year.
  • There is no upper age limit.
  • 10+2 or equivalent in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English with PCB taken together percentage of:
    • 50 % For Unreserved and General-EWS Candidates
    • 40% For SC, ST, Other Backward Classes (NCL)
The Exam:
  • NEET is usually held on the 1st Sunday of May every year.
  • Pen & Paper-based Test.
  • Total test duration: Three hours and 20 minutes.
  • NEET comprises four Subjects:
    • Physics
    • Chemistry
    • Botany
    • Zoology
  • Each subject consist of two sections. Section A consist of 35 Questions and Section B has 15 Questions.
  • Out of 15 Questions in Section-B, candidates can choose to attempt any 10 Questions.
  • So, the total number of questions to attempt is 45 in each subject, totaling 180 for all four subjects.
  • Correct answer: Four marks
  • Incorrect answer: Minus one mark (-1)
  • Unanswered: No mark
  • Question Paper in 13 languages:
